Russian-born Alyona Shabanova has joined Shrewsbury-based Bodytech Health Club as a personal trainer.

The 22-year-old model trained and qualified at Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology and at the Business and Enterprise College based at the Priory School, Shrewsbury. Alyona was originally educated at Yaroslavl University, her hometown in Russia, where she studied psychology, law, business studies, languages and English history, before coming to the UK where she has established herself as a free-weight specialist.

Jeff Anderson, of Mardol-based Bodytech, said: “Alyona is our only female personal trainer and her expertise is proving to be the key in motivating members to make an appointment and to then subsequently enjoy personal training advice and encouragement. “She offers a comprehensive range of training techniques including weight management, health and fitness for both men and women, cardiovascular training, body-building, nutritional advice, flexibility and stretch training, road running, life coaching, looking and feeling younger, personal appearance for the guys, clothing, beauty and make-up for the ladies.

“She has numerous qualifications including YMCA CYQ Level 2 Fitness Instructing, Personal Training, Nutrition and Sports Nutrition, Life Coaching and a first aid qualification.”

Alyona added: “It feels great to be able to help people in their efforts to keep fit and healthy and to see their progress and how happy it makes them feel. Sport is my life.”
